It’s that time of week… time to continue the path to thriving at work! Are you raring to go?
This week I thought I’d do something a little different. So there’s no funny video or story. Instead, it’s time for a workplace challenge. I hope you’re up for it!
In my last workplace, I used to amuse myself with “Lionel Richie Thursday’s”. And yes, it was as droll as it sounds. The rules of the game are simple – pack as many Lionel Richie lyrics into natural daily conversation as you can. Try it out… after answering the telephone once with “hello, is it me you’re looking for”, it gets infinitely more challenging.
Okay, so you can compliment Janice from the canteen by telling her she’s “three times a lady”, but you try patting a post-it-note on someone’s shoulder just so you can lever in “stuck on you”. The worst has to be the wincing which accompanies the “say you, say me” you tell your boss while furiously nodding in agreement with one of his new ideas.
So this is my challenge to you this week…
- Pick a day.
- Pick an artist.
- Hold your very own version of Lionel Richie Thursday!
