Happy Monday from Survive at Work. Make a Difference

Happy Monday #21

Good morning!

It’s a new week and a new month. A brand new canvass awaits us all… a brand new opportunity to make our mark, make massive strides towards our goals and make a difference in this big old world.  I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get started!

Happy Monday!

Today, I want to share this awesome video: “Would You Follow You?”.  How about this for a taster?

You can fail at what you don’t want to be.  So you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. read more

Happy Monday #20

Did someone mention a Bank Holiday?  Whooooooop!!!

Happy Monday!

Over here in the UK it’s a Bank Holiday. That means for most of us, the order of the day is time off work and a well-deserved lay in (or is that lie in?  Answers on a postcard please…)!

For your delectation this week, I present a veritable feast of amusing animal comic strips, created by the ever-so-talented Simpsons animator Liz Climo: Linky

So, grab your mid-morning cup of coffee, mute the telly (have you ever tried to concentrate with “How do you solve a problem like Maria” blaring in the background?) and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Liz Climo.  Enjoy!

p.s. if you want to grab yourself a copy of Liz’s book as an early Christmas present (only 122 days to go you know!), it’ll be published on the 23rd September.  You can pre-order your copy from Barnes & Noble, Indie Bound, Books a Million or Amazon. Here’s a link if you want to check it out: read more

Guest Writer, Mindfulness, Survive at Work

Survive Work with Mindfulness

Our Mindfulness Guest Writer

Today’s post comes with an additional bonus… a guest writer!  Jack (not his real name – he’s a shy old sort) is an ex-military officer and experienced Leader.  He’s also passionate about mindfulness and the benefits the approach has within the workplace.  That’s why I’m tremendously grateful that he’s sharing a key part of his Survive at Work toolkit with us today.

Without further ado, I hand you over to him…

59 Seconds

I hadn’t intended to write a post recommending a book.  But then I stumbled upon 59 seconds: Think a little, Change a Lot by Richard Wiseman (you can check it out here) and just had to share it.  Plus, I got the book for free… something I also had to share 🙂

Check out later in the post how you can also get free books.

59 Seconds

Hands up… I’m not one for all these self-improvement books.  This might surprise you, as I wrote a book called The Shiny & New, Confident You, which you’re probably thinking is just that. read more

Happy Monday #19

Happy Monday!

The weekend’s over and the work week has begun!  Happy Monday all 🙂

This week I thought I’d share a story that Psychologist Martin Seligman tells in his book Authentic Happiness (here’s the link if you’re interested: Amazon):

Seligman was visiting a close friend in hospital.  The friend was on life support, and had laid unconscious since being admitted.  Seligman observed an orderly meticulously placing beautiful pictures on the walls around the room: read more
