Happy Monday from Survive at Work. Make a Difference

Happy Monday #33

Today I’ve got a fantastic motivational parable to share.

So many people I speak to absolutely dread a Monday morning, knowing that it’s time for them to return to work.  If you’re one of those people, then this week in particular is for you.

There is nothing that cannot be overcome… every obstacle is an opportunity.

Happy Monday #33

A long long time ago, a King placed a boulder on the roadway.

He hid himself to watch whether anyone would remove the large rock.

Over time, many of the kingdom’s wealthiest lords and merchants passed by and simply walked around the rock. He overheard as they loudly complained; blaming the king for not keeping the roads clear.  None did anything to remove the stone from the path.

One day, a peasant came along carrying a large basket of vegetables.  Upon seeing the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and attempted to move the stone to the side of the road.  Following much effort and pushing, he succeeded.  He then picked up his basket and went to continue on his way.

It was then that he noticed a purse lying in the road, where the rock had been. The purse contained an abundance gold coins, as well as a note from the king, stating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what many of us never understand… every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Update

While we’re here, I thought I’d give you a quick update on this site.  You may recall from the Now that is Seriously Epic post that we were number 1 for “survive at work” on Bing (out of 25.5 million results), but only on page 9 of Google.  You might also recall my resolve to improve that rating.

Well… Drum roll please.

We’re now on page 2!

More accurately, we’re result 13… out of 211 million results!  Woohoo!!!

Now onto getting us to #1 😉
